The technical collection

The technical collection is unique, and an important part of the Preus Museum. The collection highlights the technical development from the camera obscura in the 18th century to today's digital cameras.

The collection also has a wide range of specialist cameras, with Thomas Sutton's water lens camera being one of the many heirlooms. Mention must be made of the large collection of three-colour cameras, spy cameras and representative collections of e.g., Kodak and Leica cameras.

The museum's permanent exhibition A history of photography is especially dedicated to the technical collection. Here you can see the development in the technological history of photography, a selection of special cameras, as well as smaller and time-limited exhibitions with various themes that give an insight into parts of the history of photography.
