May People Live Like Flowers Grow

In connection with the exhibition Home: Perspectives, Preus Museum opens the photography exhibition May People Live Like Flowers Grow by Olha Korop at Garasjetorget in Horten on 20 September.

Through the project, we meet Ukrainians living in Horten and the surrounding area, who share stories about their lives in the shadow of the war in Ukraine. Through photographs and personal texts, they share experiences of longing, hope, belonging, and what it means to build a new life far from home.

In Korop’s project, the participants became co-creators. Each was given a disposable camera and a notebook, which they used to document their everyday lives through photographs and writing. In the exhibition, the participants’ images and words are interwoven with Korop’s photographs, creating an intimate and personal story about people trying to find their footing, care for one another, and hold on to hope.

The exhibition opens on 20 September.

Alongside the exhibition opening, Preus Museum invites visitors to a special celebration of Ukrainian Independence Day from 11:00–16:00. The programme includes Home: Perspectives, music, Ukrainian food and flavours, activities for children, a photo wall, as well as conversation and a sense of community.

We welcome Ukrainians, Norwegians, and anyone curious about Ukraine today.

Bring your family and join us for a day dedicated to freedom, memories, culture, and community.
